ABOUT
Julianne Cooke
Passionate About Inspiring Others
Welcome to Speech by the Beach! I’m Julianne, a certified Speech Language Pathologist with 17 years of direct clinical experience. My passion for pediatric feeding and orofacial myofunctional therapy stems from personally navigating challenges like infant breast- and bottle-feeding difficulties, tongue ties, sleep-disordered breathing, chronic upper respiratory illness and temporomandibular joint disorder. I am passionate about supporting families facing similar hurdles. I believe in treating the root cause of difficulties with eating, sleeping, breathing and speaking to move from surviving to thriving.
I worked for Connecticut Birth to Three for 6 years where I discovered my talent for connecting with infants, toddlers, their families and caregivers. It’s rewarding to see the change and improvement that results from intervening early. Empowering caregivers through coaching and education allows them to use their innate expert knowledge to encourage the health and development of children in their care.
I began my career practicing as an SLP in a Connecticut public school. This experience and advocating for my own children gave me a seat on both sides of the table. I’m equipped with the insights to hold educational teams accountable with kindness, collaboration, gratitude and a deep understanding of the processes behind the scenes.
My mission is to empower families to access the services and supports they desperately need—often services they didn’t even know existed—especially when navigating the medical and educational systems feels overwhelming. I’ve been there and I’m here for you! I offer a range of services, including:
-
Speech and Language Therapy for late-talking toddlers and preschoolers aged 0-4
-
Articulation Therapy for individuals aged 4 through adulthood
-
Feeding Therapy for struggling and selective eaters aged 0-9, including assessments and treatment for tethered oral tissues collaborating with the best providers
-
Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy for individuals aged 4 through adulthood
-
Educational Advocacy for parents navigating special education and the 504 and IEP processes, ensuring their voices are heard
I work alongside you and strive to help you build a team of supportive professionals. Often, I find myself serving as you or your child’s case manager with open and frequent collaboration with educational and medical team members. I can guide you through the complex journey of supporting you and your child in thriving, not just surviving.
